Moisturizing compress: Dissolve two Domeboro tablets in 1 quart of cold water and 2 ounces of Balnetar oil or Alpha-Keri oil (your pharmacist can help you find these). Keep the solution in the refrigerator. Put on a pair of thin cotton gloves, and immerse the gloved hands in the solution. Squeeze out the excess solution, and allow to almost air dry. Do not cover to prevent evaporation. Repeat the above routine as often as recommended throughout the waking hours. Apply the prescription cream (or zinc oxide ointment if no prescription cream was given) at bedtime under a pair of dry cotton gloves. Decrease the frequency of soaks as the condition improves
